OUR PURPOSE
We are a group of committed local residents who believe each of us can play a constructive role in how we as a community are represented in Federal Parliament. We have formed Voices of Bradfield Inc, an incorporated association, in order to develop a platform for community engagement where Bradfield residents can be heard. We are committed to ensuring that our elected representatives in Canberra are accountable to the electorate.
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is modelled on the Voices movement that started in Indi in 2012 when Voices of Indi supported community Independent Cathy McGowan and later Helen Haines. In 2019 Voices of Warringah supported Zali Steggall and there are now more than 30 Voices groups in electorates across Australia. Each one is a fully independent grass-roots organisation that serves no one but the local electorate.
We connect with our community via Kitchen Table Conversations (KTCs), conversations in the park, while dog-walking, in the street, at markets, and we also use surveys to gather the views and perspectives of local residents.
A summary of our consultations will be compiled into a report and will form the basis for discussion between the community, our elected representatives and potential independent candidates.
OUR VALUES - Respect Integrity Trust
The guiding values of Voices of Bradfield emphasise respect, integrity and trust. We welcome and encourage participation by all residents of Bradfield, irrespective of political allegiance, age or gender and provide safe supportive processes to ensure a diversity of opinions are heard and respected.
We encourage collaborative, respectful discussion.
We empower people to speak up for what they believe in and acknowledge the courage it takes to do so.
We act with integrity and ensure that our behaviour is ethical, accountable, transparent, honest and respectful.
